The Ethiopia Orthodox Tewahedo Church has Five Pillars of Mysteries through which it teaches and demonstrates its basic religious belief.
They are called Pillars of Mystery due to the fact that they support and strengthen the faithful in religious teachings as a pillar supports a roof.

The Seven Sacraments of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church
"The E.O.T.C. serves the faithful through the seven sacraments. These sacraments are called mysteries because of the invisible grace of the Holy Spirit is granted through them."
"Sacraments are holy ordinance through which the believer receives an invisible grace under the form of an outward sign. In the performance of each sacrament the Divine Majesty Himself is present." - His Grace Abba Yesehaq
